My mum died of cancer last year She was so brave and fought the cancer for 18 months she never complained all through her treament
She grew up in Parkhead( Dalton street) with her sister Margaret and brother Maurice and their dad Robert Neil Their mum died when they were young and life must have been hard .
She got married moved to Barlanark and then Townhead had three
kids
We moved to Ruchazie and she worked as a machinist in the Canda factory in Queenslie for years then we moved out to Cumbernauld
from there she worked in Havelocks in Denny
My mum was a brilliant mum She came through a lot in the last 10 years of her life She had two major brain surgieries as she had four anurysms and never complained and then at the start of 2006 was diagnosed with lung cancer she went through another major surgery to remove part of her lung we thought she was over the wort of it but she then needed chemo as there were some cells in her lymph nodes Again mum was brilliant she liked to be independant We thought things were doing well and then in april 2007 mum had a seizure the cancer had now spread to her brain We thought we had lost her that day but true to her self she was a wee fighter and defied the odds When she came too the seizure had caused damage to her memory They told us there was nothing else they could do so it would only be a matter of time .
We decided to take her home and we all rallied round to look after her as she needed twenty four hour care. although this was a sad time for us mum didnt know she was dying and we are really thankfull for the time we had she made us laugh so much during this time we all laughed with her but shed mainy tears on our own we got two more months with mum
She passed away on the 24th June with all of her family with her We all miss her so much and will never forget her .
to my sister
A few lines from "My Sister And My Friend":
"Having a sister is a journey
Throughout life is does not end
But you were more than my sister
I was proud to call you my friend
In our childhood I recall so many times
Of great joy and carefree play
Memories that comfort and make me smile
Even though you've gone away
And I realize how very blessed I was
To have found a friend in you
There were times when your love was the difference
That somehow got me through
Through the challenges that we all must face
Growing up on this path called life
You were there for me in such thoughtful ways
And helped me through these difficult times
And I was also privileged to laugh with you
You brought me more joy than I can define..."

dot
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
And He whispered “Come to Me”
With tearful eyes we watched you.
We watched you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He chose to take the best.
It’s lonesome here without you
We miss you more each day.
Life doesn’t seem the same
Since you have gone away.
When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper
“Cheer Up and Carry On”
Each time we see your picture
You seem to smile and say,
“Don’t cry, I’m in God’s hands,
We’ll meet again someday!”
